Happy New Year

 This year has been an amazing one which saw me visit Europe, start at new job which I love and even try surfing for the first time. In 2012 I'm looking forward to plenty more excitement both professionally and personally. Until the New Year arrives I'll be spending it with friends before heading down to the Mount for a few days soaking up the sun at the beach. Wishing you all a Happy New Year!   

Christmas Table Decor

Every Christmas I'm in charge of decorating the table at my parents house. This year I decided to go for a green, white and silver theme - a change from last year's red and silver. I set the scene with an old white lace table cloth and matching napkins, tied with silver ribbon. Down the centre of the table I scattered old jam jars filled with white flowers and greenery. At each person's place setting was a silver Christmas crackers and paper cone filled with sweets. Here are a few images I used for inspiration this year...

What’s your Christmas wish?

This year I am looking forward to spending time with my family and in-laws at their homes in the country. I love waking up and looking out the window on lush green fields, which is such a lovely change from living in the concrete jungle of inner city Auckland. Since its summer here I'm also looking forward to spending time at the beach with family, opening presents and nothing beats mum's delicious Christmas pudding with berries and custard.

What’s your Christmas wish?
I'm looking forward to spending quality time with my family and friends. I've often been guilty of being a workaholic this year, so I'm just grateful to have time this Christmas to spend with the people I care about.

What’s your Christmas wish?
For Christmas I would like a dwarf Pohutukawa, our native New Zealand Christmas tree. I just love the colour and seeing it reminds me of long summer days, chilling, camping, doing very little but hanging out with family and friends. A dwarf version because I wouldn't have anywhere to put it otherwise.

Today’s 16th day of Christmas wish comes from Cathy, who loves Antoni Gaudí’s amazing architecture works.

What’s your Christmas wish?

With Christmas falling on a Sunday this year I’d like to start the day in Barcelona, Spain in Antoni Gaudí’s Sagrada Família (the beautiful ceiling is seen above), for their Christmas morning church service. Then off to the Blue Mountains, Australia to have Christmas morning coffee with my 88-year-old mum and three sisters- one home from Africa for Christmas. All four of us sisters have not been together with mum forChristmas for 20 years!

Next we would fly over the Tasman to Dairy Flat, Auckland to our home for Christmas lunch with all but one of our family of 13. BBQ turkey followed by our family’s traditional Christmas play and then present opening.

The final destination of the day would be to fly to London for Christmas dinner with our son Reuben. And if it could be a London white Christmas evening that would be great.

Dreams are free but love is a reality so we will send our love to all our Children this Christmas.

Today’s 15th day of Christmas wish comes from Joy, a new mum and yellow lover.

What’s your Christmas wish?

My first wish for Christmas would be round trip tickets to the US. But more practically, I would love a shoe shopping spree at Wild Pair. As a yellow lover, these mustard colored wedges have caught my eye.

What’s your Christmas wish?

I would love to unwrap a copy of Decade for Christmas. I’ve popped past Parson's Art Bookshop many times to flip through the pages of this amazing book on photography from the last decade and would love to have my own copy. While reading I would sip Earl Grey tea from the newly given Crown Lynn cups and contemplate heading down to the local beach with my Country Road beach bag for a dip!

Today’s seventh day of Christmas wish comes from Heidi, a musican and mother of two.

What’s your Christmas wish?
Well I've already received a Horn sewing table - one of the best inventions I've seen in a while. It's so practical! But another wish is a backyard makeover. I'm thinking along the lines of lush lawns, maybe a swing and a lot of fruit trees. Also a pretty umbrella and a bunch of nice smelling flowers. But the highlight, which is probably the most attainable, would be a hammock (similar to the photo above). A nice cotton rope hammock for lounging in and reading while the kids play with water sounds perfect.

What’s your Christmas wish?
I'm a huge fan of experience gifts rather than physical ones. So an 'experience' could be dinner out somewhere, tickets to a show or concert, a day trip to Waiheke Island, a wine tasting, hiring a Ducati for a day...something along those lines. Something where you're spending time with the other person whilst doing something special or are somewhere special. Physical things break, get lost or remain unused, memories don't.

Today’s third day of Christmas wish comes from Laura, a programme coordinator at Objectspace gallery and lover of all things red.

What’s your Christmas wish?

That I would waft calmly through work and other engagements, always punctual and never flustered. My second wish is a lolly coloured floaty skirt (similar to this candy orange one from Wild Pair, $69). I saw a woman walking down the street in a sunshine-yellow skirt like this today and it looked like summer.
